At Desmet, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the design, evaluation, and mechanical integrity of equipment and vessels used in our processing plants. In this role, you will contribute to multidisciplinary engineering activities, including equipment layout development, stress analysis, and coordination with vendors to ensure efficient and high-quality project execution. You will play a key role in delivering reliable engineering solutions for both regional and global projects while adhering to industry standards and best practices. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Execute detailed mechanical design and perform engineering calculations for equipment in compliance with applicable international standards and codes such as ASME Section VIII Div. 1, AD 2000, EN 13445, and GB.
  • Conduct stress analysis for ducting systems and critical piping lines to ensure the reliability of piping that transport fluids and gases under varying pressures and temperatures.
  • Provide technical support and resolve engineering issues with external design partners, equipment vendors and fabrication contractors.
  • Collaborate with the process engineering team to develop plant layouts, engineering drawings and supporting documents.
  • Review, check and approve mechanical layout and structural drawings to meet project and quality standards.
  • Assist the Head of Department in preparing calculation templates, design standards and engineering guidelines.
  • Travel to client offices, project sites or fabrication workshops as required for technical discussions, inspections or support

REQUIRED PROFILE

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with static equipment calculation software such as PVElite, Autopipe Vessel and ANSYS.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of static equipment design codes and standards including ASME VIII Div.1 & 2, API 650, GB Code and EN 13445.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD applications, as well as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of piping stress analysis principles. Proactive, self-driven and good time management.
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written (any other language will be an asset)
  • Willing to travel with short stays abroad.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering Bachelor of engineering degree
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the oil & fats or petrochemical industry related to static equipment and mechanical integrity.
  • Knowledge of piping and layout; experience performing piping stress analysis is an added advantage.
