At Desmet, our plant-based protein solvent extraction process efficiently separates defatted meal into molasse, and protein concentrate meal. Utilizing continuous countercurrent, multi-stage washing with mixture of Ethanol/Water solvent, we ensure maximum quantity of soluble component (mainly sugar components).
Our technology finds versatile applications across various sectors, including animal feed for fish, piglet, pet, and other animal food, as well as the food sector for texturization of vegetable protein (TVP), meat alternatives, ice cream, dairy replacements, and nutritional ingredients.

A significant patent has been granted for the advanced LM Pro extractor technology. This latest innovation builds upon the original Desmet continuous belt-type LM extractor, first developed more than 75 years ago in 1946. Over the decades, the LM extractor has undergone continuous updates and enhancements, incorporating the latest technological advancements. Most recently, it was discovered that the LM Pro extractor is perfectly suited for SPC production. With an optimized cleaning device, the LM Pro extractor ensures a clean screen and can support uninterrupted, efficient operations.

Raw materials
To produce plant-based protein concentrate, the raw materials can include defatted soybean meal, rapeseed meal, and sunflower meal. The most commonly processed seed is soya, which is used to produce soya protein concentrate (SPC) suitable for both food and feed grade quality.
