Multistock deodorizer
The Desmet Multistock semi-continuous deodorizer is designed for application in refineries with multiple feedstock changes per day in smaller batches.
This is often the case for producers of specialty and margarine fats and oils. Desmet offers a wide range of standard capacities from 50 to 1500 tpd.
The modular design integrates deaeration, heat recovery via thermosyphon(s), deodorizing, and cooling - all within a single column.
The design has continuously been optimized combining optimal product quality and minimal contamination between batches with high energy efficiency and full automation.
How does it work?
The operation of the Multistock deodorizer is straightforward and fully automated:
A batch of oil is measured in the upper tray. The batch then passes by gravity to the different compartments of the deodorizer by opening the drop valves between the compartments after a pre-set cycle time.
The oil is heated by heat exchange in the thermosyphon trays (1 to 2), heated by HP steam to deodorizing temperature in tray 3, deodorized by direct steam injection in the deodorizing trays (4 to 5), cooled by the thermosyphon system and/or by hot water generation in trays (6 - 8), and finally the batch is pumped out of the deodorizer for final cooling and polishing filtration. Entrained fatty matter is condensed in the external packed scrubber that is connected to the vacuum system.
he Multistock deodorizer is specifically developed for multi-feedstock refineries with several stock changes per day (margarine blends, specialty fats, etc) with minimal contamination between batches and fast feedstock changes.
The Multistock deodorizer can be designed for chemical and/or physical refining of a great variety of oils and fats in a big capacity range (from 20 to 1500 tpd).
