Desmet Technology Supports Jianglan’s HVO-SAF Development
The project forms part of a new collaboration between Biofuels Partners and Jianglan Bio-Energy to explore international opportunities across UCO, HVO and SAF.
Desmet is pleased to see its pretreatment technology incorporated into Jianglan Bio-Energy’s integrated renewable fuels development in China.
Jianglan’s industrial development includes a UCO pretreatment facility with an annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes and an HVO-SAF plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes. The HVO-SAF plant combines Desmet pretreatment technology with Topsoe HydroFlex® technology to support the processing of suitable feedstocks into renewable fuels.
Exploring opportunities across the renewable fuels value chain
Biofuels Partners (BFP) and Jianglan Bio-Energy have signed an exploratory Collaboration Agreement to investigate international cooperation across used cooking oil (UCO), hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The agreement will enable the two companies to explore potential opportunities across the value chain, including UCO and HVO-SAF supply and future commercial partnerships. At this stage, the agreement does not commit either party to specific volumes or transactions.
BFP contributes expertise in feedstock sourcing, strategic advisory, sustainability certification support and commercial development. Jianglan brings established experience in UCO collection, together with an integrated approach covering feedstock sourcing, pretreatment and renewable fuel production.
Transparency and traceability
The collaboration will be guided by a strong focus on transparent sourcing, documented feedstock origin, robust chain-of-custody controls and independently verified sustainability credentials.
These principles are increasingly important as renewable fuel markets develop and destination markets introduce specific requirements for feedstock eligibility, sustainability performance and traceability. Reliable documentation and accountability across the value chain will be essential to building confidence in renewable fuel supply.
Our committment
For Desmet, the project demonstrates the important role of effective pretreatment in the development of integrated renewable fuel facilities. By helping prepare challenging feedstocks for downstream conversion, Desmet technology supports the reliable operation and sustainability objectives of UCO, HVO and SAF projects.
As the renewable fuels sector continues to grow, Desmet remains committed to providing technologies and expertise that help customers develop efficient, traceable and sustainable solutions across the value chain.
